Cross-Country Teen Pizza-Making Exchanges

Cross-Country teen pizza-making exchanges—virtual sessions where teens from Italy and Canada teach each other to make traditional pizza (Neapolitan vs. pepperoni)—are blending culture and cooking. Unlike pre-recorded recipes, live sessions let teens ask questions (e.g., “How do you get thin crust?”).
In 2024, 200+ teens participated, with 90% making pizza at home. 16-year-old Marco in Italy taught a Canadian teen to use fresh mozzarella; the teen taught him to add pineapple. “Our ‘fusion pizza’ was delicious!” Marco said. Teens share photos online and send herbs to help replicate flavors. These exchanges prove that food is a universal language—pizza connects cultures.
